Oxford Rides the Wave of Climate Protests

Oxford Rides the Wave of Climate Protests

Date: 2009-12-05

On Saturday 5th December in Cornmarket, three intrepid climate campaigners braved the weather and the Christmas shoppers to bring a little bit of Climate Action to the streets of Oxford.

The theme, emulated up and down the country by hundreds of thousands of other people taking a message to the politicians and the Copenhagen talks, was the 'Wave', hence the blue colour. And it's what the 'old man of the sea' was doing there as well. We were also spreading the word, increasingly reinforced by research and even the government, that eating less meat and dairy is good for the planet, our health and of course the animals.

On top of South Oxfordshire

Well done to the climate campaigners currently atop Didcot power station. Shame on the media for not reporting it fully - this link is to Indymedia. There are NO HEADLINES on major broadcast networks that I've seen. I suppose they are just looking for confrontation rather than what's actually happening, as usual. Best of the worst at BBC news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/8327068.stm, nothing on Sky, ITN, Channel 4... and, oh yes, the Oxford Mail managed to spot it archive.oxfordmail.net/2006/11/3/112592.html
